Philip Mico's Legacy

Bio-Diagnostics is one of the UK's leading specialists in the field of autoimmune diagnosis. We manufacture and distribute a wide range of products to local and international markets.

Our achievements are the result of the commitment and drive of a highly skilled and professional team brought together and inspired by the company's founder, the late Philip Mico.

Well respected for his outstanding commitment to innovation and customer service, Philip contributed not only to the success and long-term future of our company, but also to important technological advances within the world of immunology. The knowledge and experience he shared with his colleagues, who now continue to drive the company forward through product development and exceptional standards of service, will ensure Bio-Diagnostics remains at the forefront of its industry.

Our Heritage

Philip founded Bio-Diagnostics in 1979. The original focus for the business was the supply of tissue sections for immunofluorescent assay (IFA) for autoimmune diagnosis.

Our original work on IFA slides progressed to the development of a range of autoimmune ELISA products. Subsequent work led to the introduction of our current Rainbow ELISA format, incorporating user-friendly colour coded and ready to use reagents.

In 1992 we introduced our award wining and patented QuickCard technology, providing a range of rapid tests with high levels of specificity and sensitivity, which can be performed in less than 10 minutes.

In response to customer requirements, Bio-Diagnostics also began to offer a full IFA automation package tailored specifically for immunology laboratories.

The Company Today

While the legacy of Philip Mico lives on at Bio-Diagnostics, which continues under ownership of his wife Jill Mico, it is the team that helped him build the business that is at the heart of our company today.

Managing Director Jill Mico heads this experienced and dynamic management team driving the company forward.

We remain dedicated to product innovation and development, as well as achieving high quality standards and providing a superior level of service to meet the changing needs of the customer.

Bio-Diagnostics has continues to expand internationally with appointed distributors covering many international markets.

Additionally, 2004 saw Bio-Diagnostics appointed as the distributor for the BioCare range of Immunohistochemistry (IHC) products in the UK and Eire.

Engineering Support

An experienced and skilled engineer enables us to make warranty repairs and servicing of automated products. After the initial warranty period, we also offer maintenance and full breakdown assistance contracts to suit customer requirements.

Fully committed to helping customers keep downtime of automated products to a minimum, our engineer offers telephone support or prompt on-site visits when necessary.

As well as servicing and breakdown support, the engineer can also help develop customer tests and calibration.

Storage & Distribution

In response to a steady and consistent increase in sales orders, we have invested heavily in our warehousing facilities, with a major expansion programme completed in 2002.

We now have improved stock holding areas and cold room facilities for the safe storage of products, allowing us to supply standard products directly from stock.

Distributing products globally, we offer our customers next day deliveries using insulated packaging for the preservation of product performance.

Many of our customers benefit from our training service which, through a series of workshops and lectures, offers a detailed understanding of the technologies and developments within the field of autoimmunity.

Our practical seminar programmes include wet-workshops and presentations at Bio-Diagnostics, hospitals and private venues. We are also able to enlist guest speakers for specialist subjects.
